Commemorative Events

Commemorative events at Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre are held to honour service, sacrifice, and legacy. These gatherings create space for respectful remembrance, public recognition, and community reflection—connecting the stories represented in our memorials, gardens, and exhibits to the people who carry them forward today.

Black History Month (Commemoration Ceremony)

As part of Black History Month, we host a ceremony to honour the contributions, service, and sacrifices of Black soldiers. This gathering provides public recognition and ensures these histories are remembered with the respect they deserve.

Annual Commemoration Ceremony

Our annual commemoration event connects our community to the past through remembrance and shared reflection. It is an opportunity to honour those who served, recognize the impact of service on families and community, and reaffirm the importance of preserving local military history.

Indigenous Veterans Day

Indigenous Veterans Day honours First Nations, Métis, and Inuit veterans who have served, and recognizes that Indigenous service has not always been fully acknowledged in Canada’s public memory. It is a day of respect, reflection, and learning that affirms the contributions and experiences of Indigenous veterans across generations.
