School Programs

Our school programs are designed to be meaningful, age-appropriate, and grounded in real stories from our region and Canada’s military history. Programs support curriculum outcomes while giving students a respectful space to learn about service, sacrifice, resilience, and community connection through hands-on activities and guided discussion.

Operation: Coyote — The Animals and Symbols of War

This program explores the role animals have played in wartime and how symbols are used to communicate identity, courage, loss, and remembrance. Students learn how animals supported soldiers in practical and emotional ways, and how military symbols and insignia carry layered meaning. The session encourages critical thinking about what we choose to honour—and why.

Operation: NW Alberta Soldier

A place-based program focused on the military history of Northwestern Alberta and the individuals who served from our region. Students examine how local stories connect to national and global events, and how service impacted families and communities at home. This program builds understanding of remembrance through real names, real places, and real outcomes.

In Partnership with CIMTA: Beading a Soldier’s Story (Grades 7+)

Delivered in partnership with CIMTA, this program combines cultural practice with historical research. Students work with source documents to investigate a soldier’s story, then translate what they’ve learned into a beading project that reflects identity, meaning, and remembrance. The session emphasizes respectful inquiry, careful reading of primary sources, and the power of art to carry history forward.
